Description

A small fishing port presided over by its lighthouse, Point Pedro was particularly badly hit by the 2004 tsunami, which compounded damage sustained during the civil war. Despite hard times, life has resumed here; fish is dried on the road that skirts the beach, where the boats line up. At Sakkottai Cape, a monument marks the northernmost point of Sri Lanka.
