Description

The site of the Old Fort, built by Paul Kruger in 1886 to resist pressure from the English, is now home to the new South African Constitutional Court. In the days of apartheid, the authorities transformed the buildings into a high security prison. Nowadays you can visitNumber Four, the men's section where Gandhi, Luthuli, Sobukwe and Mandela were imprisoned, as well asThe Women's Gaol.
