Description
Like something out of a fairy-tale, the amazing rooftops of Jumilhac château, surrounded by formal gardens, inspired the engraver Gustave Doré. Antoine Chapelle, a master blacksmith knighted by King Henri IV, decorated them with lead ridge groins (forges), adorned with human and fantasy figures based on intertwined alchemical and seigneurial symbolism. Best seen from the rampart walk!
