Useful information

Description

The second portion of the Royal Route to the Wawel, this elegant street is lined in shops, cafes and restaurants. It first reaches Wszystkich Świętych Square, which is the location of the Wielopolski Palace, headquarters of the city's administration. Built between 1535 and 1560 in the Renaissance style, it was destroyed by a huge fire in 1850, even though its battlemented cornice is original. The adjacent bronze statue (1936) depicts Józef Dietl, the first elected mayor of Kraków in 1866.
