Former church of the Augustine convent, the basilica was built in its current form in the 17C, decorated in the 18C in the baroque style and restored after a fire in 1967. The chapel of the Mount of Olives contains an extraordinary group of 250 wooden figurines, carved by an 18C Tyrolean sculptor over a period of 18 years and depicting scenes of the Passion. The chancel is enclosed by fine wrought iron railings.
