Not far from the tourist centre of La Boca, the Laguna del Tesoro derives its name from a legend in which the Taino Indians, fleeing the Spanish conquistadors, dumped bags of gold here which remain undiscovered. Its 9km² of fresh water are a treasure trove of nature teeming with fish. It is impossible to come here without taking an excursion by motorised boat to Guamá, a series of small islands, on one of which you can visit a reconstruction of a Taino village.
