Useful information

Description

This site, divided into two parts along the Chalutiers Basin, charts the maritime history and life of La Rochelle. The floating museum is home to ships of all sizes from the ketch Joshua on which Bernard Moitessier participated in the first round-the-world solo yacht race in 1968 to the meteorological frigate France I which was in service until 1985. On the quay, the Galerie des Pavillons houses an exhibition entitled "La Rochelle née de la mer" (La Rochelle and the sea) and a temporary exhibition that changes each year.
