Description

Porte de la Grosse-Horloge leads into the Place des Petits-Bancs. In the centre of this square stands a monument to Eugène Fromentin (1905), which features an impressive statue of an Arab horseman paying tribute to the orientalist painter who was born in La Rochelle (1820-76). On the corner with rue du Temple, note the attractive house with a sculpted Renaissance façade dating from 1654.
