Description

The Royal Armouries Museum was opened in 1996 to house part of the national collection, partially displayed at the Tower of London. It exhibits a vast array of weapons to a backdrop of original decoration. Its galleries are devoted to the themes of war, hunting, tournaments, defence and Asian weaponry. Its more unusual exhibits include Japanese armour presented to James I in 1614, and an almost complete set of armour for an elephant.
