Useful information

Description

The picturesque and poetic Alameda de Los Descalzos is an Andalusian inspired promenade surrounded by greenery and dotted with statues and fountains. Laid out in 1611, it was modified by Viceroy Amat, and finally acquired its definitive aspect in 1856 when wrought-iron railings specially made in Britain fenced it in. The delightful little colonial churches of Patrocino and Santa Liberata can be seen a little further away. The church and convent of Los Descalzos, nestling at the foot of cerro San Cristóbal are also visible.
