Useful information

Description

Casa de Osambela, also known as the Casa de Oquendo, is a Neoclassical abode that was finished in 1805. An unusual feature on Lima's cityscape, it is equipped with an octagonal watchtower of Muslim inspiration which looms over a long façade adorned with five carved wooden balconies, reminiscent of the French Louis XVI style. The mirador commands a view of the surrounding neighbourhood and enabled its first owner, a wealthy ship-owner, to keep watch on the galleons sailing into the harbour.
