Useful information

Description

Opened in 2015, the "New Museo dos Coches" houses an exceptional collection of carriages dating from the 16C to 20C, the oldest of which is the magnificently painted coach brought to Portugal by Philip II of Spain in the late 16C. Other remarkable pieces include three coaches built in Rome in 1716 for Portugal's ambassador extraordinary to Pope Clement XI, veritable masterpieces of the Italian Baroque. There are also Berlins, sedan chairs, promenade vehicles for children and "utility vehicles".
