Leadenhall Market
The Green Guide
Gracechurch Street, London EC2P 2EJ
The ever-lively Leadenhall Market derives its name from the lead roof of an earlier building in the vicinity. Most of its traditional traders - dealing in game, poultry, meat and cheese - are gone, replaced by restaurants and boutiques. Its Victorian architectural scheme incorporates glass and wrought iron, and is predominantly in green, red and cream; a pleasant spot to take a stroll, visitors may recognise it from its appearance in the first Harry Potter film.
