The Green Guide
Gresham Street, London EC2P 7HH
The present town Hall dates back to the start of the 15C but it had serious renovations after the Great Fire of London in 1666 and the Second World War. Recent excavations have revealed the site of a Roman amphitheatre and brought to light some remains of the medieval Jewish quarter as well as the Guildhall chapel. Stretching beneath the Grand Hall the crypt is, along with the porch, the only authentic remains of the 15C building.
