Useful information

Description

This asymmetrical red brick building, with roofing slates of metal and polished granite, houses three exhibition halls in addition to its reading rooms. These halls display the library's treasures, including rare manuscripts, among them ancient maps, copies of the Magna Carta, the last letter written by Admiral Nelson, and an original Shakespeare manuscript (1623). The new premises are also home to the National Sound Archive.
