In1813, Benjamin Harvey opened a draper's shop here (Harvey Nichols) and, in 1849, Charles Henry Harrod opened a small grocery shop. The area, where many show business personalities live today, is where the elegant and wealthy clientele from Belgravia and Chelsea do their shopping.
