Useful information

Description

The marshy flatlands of Battersea were famous in the 16C for pigeon shooting, as well as for the fairs, donkey racing and duels which were held here. In 1843, Thomas Cubitt suggested creating a park in the area. Today the park is a hive of activity with a boating lake, a playground, a zoo, a deer enclosure, various sports facilities, and a number of cafes. The park is also a popular nesting area for birds.
