Useful information

Description

Apsley House is home to the impressive Wellington Collection, which is exhibited in the fabulous Waterloo Gallery; it includes paintings by Goya, Velázquez, Rubens, Brueghel and Murillo, some previously part of the Spanish royal collection taken from the French by the Duke of Wellington after the Battle of Vitoria (1813). Most of the items exhibited in the museum - porcelain services, tableware, silver etc - were gifts presented to the duke by foreign kings and queens in thanks for his victory at Waterloo.
