Description

Apsley House is home to the impressive Wellington art collection, which includes paintings by Goya, Velasquez, Rubens, Brueghel and Murillo, some of which come from the Spanish royal collection taken from the French by the Duke of Wellington after the Battle of Vitoria (1813). Most of the items exhibited in the museum (porcelain, tableware, silver etc) were gifts presented to the duke by foreign kings and queens in thanks for his victory at Waterloo.
