Description

"Everything here speaks of God, peace, and truth, " wrote Jean Racine, who was a pupil at Port Royal. The Abbey of Mère Angélique was the birthplace of Jansenism, a rigourous spiritual movement of the 17C. Redolent of history, the pretty wooded valley where the ruins of Port Royal stand today offers visitors the vestiges of the damaged abbey. The museum gives an insight into this period of France's history.
