Description

After two boys discovered a cavern entrance in 1880, Manitou resident George Snider began exploring its passages. He broke through to a chamber-200ft long and 50ft high-that now is the centerpiece of a commercial cave still owned by the Snider family. It is reached by a steep, winding 1mi road. Guides on the Discovery Tour (45min) explain limestone cave formation to visitors walking a well-lit concrete path. Participants in the Lantern Tour (75min) follow a guide in 1880s garb who emphasizes history and legend.
