Description

Tallest lighthouse in the US, the 208ft, 1870 Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was moved inland 2,900ft to the southwest in summer 1999 to protect it from the advancing ocean. During the summer visitors can climb its tower for panoramic views of the sweeping arc of the Outer Banks.
