Description

Some forty buildings were dismantled, then reassembled here, over a 4-ha area, in order to represent Carinthia's rural past. The shingle or thatch roofed houses were built by assembling logs. This age-old regional technique piles up beams horizontally, intersecting and hardening them with lead in the corners. A covered wooden bridge leads to the mills and sawmill that highlight past craftsmen's resourcefulness.
