The Michelin Guide's review
The impressive Metz railway station was finished by the Germans in 1908 during the annexation of Moselle and with war against France on their mind. It was intended to transfer more than 20,000 troops in under 24hr. Topped by a 40m-high clock tower, the imposing 300m-long building is richly decorated with sculptures, capitals, bas-reliefs and stained-glass windows. A majestic gateway to the picturesque city of Metz.
