Useful information

Description

The former refectory of the monastery houses Leonardo da Vinci's famous fresco of The Last Supper, painted between 1485 and 1497, on the request of Ludovic Sforza. This skilful and dramatic composition evokes the Eucharist and creates the illusion that the painted space is an extension of the room itself. On the opposite wall, note the Crucifixion (1495) by Montorfano, unfortunately somewhat overshadowed by The Last Supper.
