Useful information

Description

In the heart of the Blackfoot people's traditional territory of eroded cliffs and surreal fairy chimneys, Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park - Áísínai'pi - is home to a treasure: the largest concentration of rock paintings and engravings on North America's Great Plains. Sacred to Indigenous peoples, these are works of art in their own right and constitute a truly moving cultural landscape. The most famous, a fabulous battle scene, is protected by an enclosure.
