Description

Construction of the Neuve Ville suburb beyond the medieval fortifications was decided on by Frederick of Wurtemberg in 1598 in a move to cope with the arrival en masse of Huguenot refugees. He entrusted architect Heinrich Schickhardt (1558-1635) with the task.
