Description

Commissioned by Msgr. Ignace Bourget to reinforce the Catholic presence in a predominantly Protestant district, this monumental church is distinguished by large Greek columns, ornate decoration and a row of statues crowning the cornice. Designed by Victor Bourgeau and modelled after St. Peter's in Rome, the Baroque Revival edifice was consecrated in 1894. Inside is the magnificent gold-leaf baldachin (1900).
