Housed in the former Union Indian Agency Building, built of native stone in 1875, this museum tells of the five tribes-Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek and Seminole-who were forcibly moved to Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) in the 19C. The museum has an art collection of more than 800 items of traditional Native American art and sponsors four major art competitions annually. It also has an education division, known as the Center for the Study of Indian Territory.
