Useful information

Description

Hidden away within the Monastery of St John, founded, as were many others, by Charlemagne, this church is home to frescoes which comprise the most important collection of murals in the Confederation and are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Some are on show in the Zurich National Museum. The oldest, partly covered, date back to the 9C.
