Description

Neuville's church was erected in stages: the choir dates from 1761, the nave from 1854 and the façade from 1915. In the sanctuary is a baldachin commissioned in 1695 by Msgr. de Saint-Vallier for the chapel of his episcopal palace in Quebec City. In 1717 he offered the baldachin to Neuville parish in exchange for wheat for the needy. Four twisted columns frame the tabernacle, sculpted by François Baillairgé around 1800. The church also contains some 20 paintings by Antoine Plamondon (1804-95), a native of Neuville.
