Mar-Oct: 10am-5pm; Nov- Feb: 10am-4pm - guided tours several times a day
A coalmine from the late 19C, Lady Victoria Colliery is partly open to the public. In the information centre, a permanent exhibition and guided tour of the mine enable visitors to imagine life and work in a mine. Exhibits include a steam engine from 1894 with a 6m diameter wheel, which was used to raise and lower miners' cages and coal wagons, in a shaft around 500m deep.
