Useful information

Description

Waterloo Monument was built to commemorate the victory of Wellington (1769-1852) over Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815. On top of Peniel Heugh (227m), the monument is one of the region's most prominent landmarks. The craggy eminence was formerly the site of pre-Roman camps and commands splendid views of the surrounding countryside.
