This compound (1863), comprising a Taoist temple, a smaller Buddhist temple, a Confucian family chapel, a Tapestry Hall of Chinese folk arts and a garden featuring plants of Chinese origin, is one of few reminders of the 10,000 Chinese gold miners who lived in the Oroville area in the late 19C. The temple was nearly destroyed by floods in 1907, but was restored and rededicated in 1949.
