Useful information

Description

Opened in 1866, the Centre Block was designed by Thomas Fuller, Chilion Jones and Charles Baillairgé. The visit includes the Senate, the House of Commons and the library (1877), the only part of the original structure to escape the 1916 fire. The Peace Tower can be climbed for a fine view of the capital. Parliamentary proceedings are open to the public if the House or Senate is in session. Each sitting begins with the Speaker's Parade.
