Useful information

Description

Combining French, Italian and English styles, these magnificent botanical gardens are home to around 20 000 different plant species planted in terraces. Two routes (approx. 2km and 3km) take visitors past the profusion of azaleas, heather, rhododendrons, camellias, dahlias, and maple trees. Captain Neil McEacharn (1884-1964) gave the name Villa Taranto to this complex in memory of one of his ancestors, Marshall McDonald, who was given the title Duke of Taranto by Napoleon.
