Description
During the Second World War, young jazz-lovers came to live in Saint-Germain-des-Prés to celebrate their music. Following the city's liberation, the district became popular for its nightlife and jazz clubs, with artists and intellectuals such as Sidney Bechet, Boris Vian, Juliette Gréco and Sartre adding their own dynamism. Nowadays, the district has changed, yet still retains a charming atmosphere with its modern art galleries, antique shops, cafés, bookshops, narrow streets and many students.
