Description

In the 19C, Rue Oberkampf was the stronghold of foundry workers, carpenters and joiners. A busy shopping street during the day, at nightfall it springs to life around the rectangle formed by Rue Oberkampf and Rue Jean-Pierre-Timbaud, particularly between Rue Moret and Rue St-Maur. Among the most popular bistros, Café Charbon continues to top the bill, partly because of its annex Le Nouveau Casino, a concert hall and night-club, followed by Chez Justine.
