In the 17C, the forest became a place for people to go for a stroll and to enjoy themselves. Its popularity returned in the 19C, under the aegis of Napoleon III who ordered the alleys be laid out, the lakes be dug out, houses and attraction parks be built, which can still be enjoyed today, together with its lakes (Lower and Upper), its islands, its waterfalls, its gardens, its lawns and its undergrowth.
