Useful information

Description

This large theatre stands beneath the terrace of the eponymous palace. Firmin Gémier established the Théâtre National Populaire here in 1920, which Jean Vilar directed from 1951-63. The theatre, now known officially as the Théâtre National de Chaillot, hosts contemporary dance performances. Inside, the Grand Foyer and the Galerie des Nabis are striking for their size. On 10 December 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in the main auditorium.
