Description

This museum dedicated to the First World War was designed by Henri-Édouard Ciriani. It stands where the Battle of the Somme front line was once drawn. It deploys an international approach to show its unique collection of 70 000 documents and artefacts from the front, including striking etchings from Otto Dix's series Der Krieg. Outside is the Garden of the Sixth Continent, a symbolic work representing peace and unity of peoples that invites visitors to bring a plant from their home country.
