The Michelin Guide's review
Terre-de-Bas, which is slowly recovering from Hurricane Maria, which hit in 2017, is one of the most peaceful spots in the French Caribbean. Little traffic, few tourists; it is the ideal place to enjoy nature and the beaches. Grande-Anse is the island's finest beach, its pale sand fringed by coconut trees. If spending a few days in Terre-de-Bas, be sure to visit Petites-Anses, seat of the local administration. The last remaining salako manufacturers continue to craft this traditional 19C fishermen's hat out of bamboo and colourful madras checked fabric.
