The South Dakota State Capitol, with Ionic columns, is inspired by Ancient Greece. Built in 1910 of native fieldstone, Indiana limestone and Italian marble, it was restored in 1989 and boasts remarkable terrazzo flooring: The 66 contributing Italian artisans were told to place a blue tile wherever they liked in the building by way of signature.
