Useful information

Description

In keeping with Carnegie's wishes, the museum concentrates on European and American art from the late 19C to the present. Within you'll find works by Tintoretto, Rubens, Monet, Pissarro, van Gogh, Pollock, de Kooning and Rauschenberg. Based on the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World), the Hall of Architecture holds more than 140 plaster casts of architectural masterpieces. Bathed in sunlight, the adjacent Hall of Sculpture displays copies of statues from ancient Greece arrayed around the loggia. On the second floor, the Sarah Scaife Galleries are organized chronologically beginning with art from ancient Egypt to early-19C Europe.
