Description

It was here in the old hermitage that St Francis underwent an eye operation and, after 40 days of fasting in the cave, he dictated the Franciscan Rule. The chapel of the Maddalena (12C) is decorated with frescoes on which is the "T", emblem of the cross designed by St Francis. The chapel of S. Michele, the cave, the tree trunk where Jesus appeared to the Saint, the old hermitage and the 15C church make all of this a high point of Franciscanism.
