Description

The inner courtyard of the Palazzo della Sapienza is closed to the rear by the concave façade of Sant'Ivo alla Sapienza church. Here Borromini tried to confine his ideas within a restricted space, using such exaggeratedly curved lines that his architecture was termed perverse and contrary. The light and lively interior offers a foretaste of the Rococo style.
