Useful information

Description

Calle Las Damas was the first street in the New World to be paved and was named in tribute to the ladies-in-waiting of Doña María de Toledo, wife of Viceroy don Diego Colomb, who liked to walk here. It is lined with beautiful mansions, where the Spanish aristocracy lived during the height of the colonial era. If you walk up the street that runs alongside the mouth of Río Ozama and the remains of the ramparts that protected the colonial city, you will reach the large porch built by Carlos III (1787), which stands at the entrance to Fortaleza Ozama.
