The Michelin Guide's review
The remarkable Santa María la Menor Cathedral may have no belfry or bell tower, but is nonetheless a major example of Spanish Renaissance architecture, thanks to a façade adorned with Plateresque, Moorish and Gothic motifs. Within the vaulted triple nave interior, in addition to 14 chapels, there is a mausoleum devoted to Alejandro Geraldini, former archbishop of Santo Domingo, to whom we owe this 16C coral-limestone cathedral. Take a moment to admire the stained glass windows, the mahogany altarpiece and a canvas featuring the Catholic Kings.
