Description
On 2 February, the Iemanjá Festival takes place on the beach of Rio Vermelho in honour of the goddess of the sea, for whom offerings are thrown into the water - it is a magical moment. The neighbourhood, home to many artists, has an easygoing atmosphere and lively nightlife. It is a pleasant area for a drink in the evening and if you are feeling peckish head for the restaurants and little outlets where you can sample the wares of the fish market!
