The Wolf and Beranger Confectionery was a kind of literary club where journalists and writers came to talk and read newspapers. It was here that the great poet Alexander Pushkin drank his last cup of coffee before dying in a duel with G d'Anthès. Today the building houses a Literary Café, and a wax statue of Pushkin sitting at the table and holding a quill pen evokes one of the greatest tragedies in Russian literature.
